Elsie M. ""Peg"" Shirar

Elsie M. “Peg” Shirar, 86, a lifelong resident of Frankfort, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015, at her home.

She was born April 15, 1929, in Rising Sun, to John F. and Della Dickson Huffer.  On September 14, 1945, she married Ralph Shirar in Frankfort; he preceded her in death.

Peg was a homemaker.

Surviving are one son, Jackie (Marilyn) Shirar of Frankfort; three daughters, Pat (Jack) Harshbarger of Kokomo, Carrie Gammon (Don Logan) of Jefferson, and Thelma (Lee) Donoho of Frankfort; 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and one great, great grandson.

In addition to her husband, Peg is preceded in death by one son, Dennis Shirar; four brothers, Mike, David, Lloyd, and George; and two sisters, Susie and Tootie.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.  Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2015, at the funeral home with Rev. Ernest Batman officiating.  Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.  Memorial in Peg’s name may be made to Guardian Angel Hospice.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
