Esther M. Cripe Smith, 88, of Mulberry, formerly of Lafayette, died at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2011, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.
Mrs. Smith was born Oct. 10, 1923 in Oakland City, IN. to Gordan L. and Della D. (Whitlock) Strader. She married Daniel Frazer, Otis Cripe and Dan Smith all which preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker and worked as a custodian at Purdue in the early 80âs. Most of her life was lived in Lafayette and Rainsville she moved to Mulberry in 1989.
Mrs. Smith had attended Mulberry Baptist Church and was a past member of the Love and Friendship Club in Attica.
Surviving are 2 sons, Louis Frazer of Denver, CO and Jerry Cripe of Muncie; 2 daughters, Diane White of Battle Ground and Connie Curtis of Daytona, FL; 2 sisters, Della VanKirk of Lafayette and Alma Hancock of Monticello; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 5 step¬sons and 6 stepdaughters along with their children and grandchildren.
Preceded in death by 1 son, John Frazer, and 2 brothers, Boyce and Robert Strader and son-in-law, Dallas White.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Jan. 5, 2012 at Bodine Funeral Home, Mulberry, IN. Place of burial will be Rainsville Cemetery in Rainsville. Calling hours are between 11 a.m. and time of service.
