Evelyn Mae Birden, 88, of Lafayette, formerly of Frankfort, died Sunday, December 5, 2010, in the Milner Community Health Center in Rossville.
Born January 19, 1922 in Danville, IL, she was the daughter of George and Nora White Sipes. She graduated from Frankfort High School in 1941.
She was married to Dorcel in August 19, 1942. He died in March 31, 1990.
She worked in production at Unilectric and also was a union representative.
She was a life member of the Eagles Lodge in Frankfort. She enjoyed playing cards, watching old movies, and reading. She loved to fish with her husband and sons and she loved to play ball.
Surviving are two sons, Dorcel Jr. (wife: Margaret) of Lafayette and Wes (wife: Kaye) of Jacksonville FL, a sister, Mary Jane Faust of Wauchula, FL. and a brother, John Sipes, of Port St. Lucie, FL.
Also surviving are her grandchildren, Roger Birden of Nashville, TN, Amy Lehor of Prospect Heights, IL, Casey, Dustin, Tyler, and Lauren Birden all of Jacksonville, FL, and also her great-granddaughters, Taylor, Payton, and Sloan Lehor.
Preceded in death was a son, Carl; two sisters, Thelma Davis and Marie Harlan; and a brother, Jim Zook.
Visitation will be two hours prior to a 1:00 PM service on Sat., Dec. 11, 2010 with Pastor Chuck Williams officiating at the Genda Funeral Home, 608 North Main Street, in Frankfort. Interment will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
