Floyd J. Yundt, 87, of Mulberry, formerly of rural Lafayette, died on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at 8:35 a.m. at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.
He was born April 16, 1925, in Tippecanoe County, the son of Joe and Alma Blanche Timmons Yundt. Floyd graduated from Dayton High School in 1943 where he played basketball.
On March 31, 1946, he married the former Minnie L. Metzger; she preceded him in death on February 11, 2011.
Floyd farmed all of his life in southern Tippecanoe County, raising grain and livestock including prime Angus cattle. In addition, he was a DeKalb seed dealer, receiving several sales awards. He was a member of Trinity Church of Mulberry where he served as an elder, deacon, and a Sunday school teacher, member of Tippecanoe County Pork Producers Association and enjoyed working yearly in the Pork Food Tent at the County Fair, member of the Tippecanoe County Beef Producers, member of the Tippecanoe County Farm Bureau, and a supporter of Tippecanoe County 4-H awards. Floyd was a Chicago Cubs fan.
Surviving Floyd are his children, Marcia (Donald) Leach and Darlene (Mark) McCray, both of rural Lafayette, Judy (Larry) Skinner and Duane (Lori) Yundt, both of rural Frankfort, and Larry (Joy) Yundt of Bunker Hill, Ill.; 15 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother.
Visitation for Floyd will be held on Friday, September 21, 2012, at Bodine Funeral Home in Mulberry from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Jeff Johns will officiate. Burial will follow in Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry.
