Floyd Snowden

Floyd Snowden, 90, of West Lafayette and formerly of Michigantown, passed away on Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at the Indiana Veteran’s Home.

He was born on July 16, 1925, in Hargett, KY, to Richard and Bertha King Snowden.  On July 6, 1946, he married Mildred Thomas; she preceded him in death on July 24, 2007.

Floyd served in the United States Navy during World War II.  After his service, he was a truck driver for Newell’s Bottle Gas.  He was a former member of the Teamsters, Frankfort American Legion, and the Eagles Lodge.

Surviving are his children, Ronnie (Teresa) Snowden of Frankfort, Anthony Snowden of Norvell, MI, and Geraldean Wallizer of Frankfort; brothers, Bobby Ray Snowden of Baroque, KY, and Claude Snowden of Georgia; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 17 great, great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Floyd is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Shelby Snowden and Earl Snowden.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 9:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort with military honors.  Memorials in Floyd’s name may be made to Clinton County Cancer.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
