Freda Starcher Cripe, 100, of Mulberry passed away on January 24, 2013 at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.
Freda was born on September 7, 1912 in Kentland, Indiana to the late Boyd I. and Edna (McCain) Neher.
Her first marriage was to John P. Starcher, and he preceded her in death in 1968. She later married Maurice D. Cripe, and he preceded her in death in 2002.
She graduated from Alexander J. Kent High School in Kentland. She worked in the office of the Recorder of Newton County and in the Department of Education Office at Purdue University.
Freda was a member of Trinity Church of Mulberry, Trinity Guild, the Home Study Circle, and Mulberry Community Club, Motherâs Club, served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and volunteered for the Madison Township Clinton County Chapter of the Cancer Association. She also enjoyed sewing and reading.
Freda is survived by her son, John F. Starcher of Lafayette; step-son, Gordon (wife Sandra) Cripe of Rossville; granddaughter, Kim (husband Sean) Sesher of League City, Texas; step-grandchildren, Tricia (husband Chris) Blakely and Kristen (husband Glen) Woodworth; great-grandchildren, Gage Sesher, Dylan Sesher and Brook (husband Donny) Stanfield; step-great-grandchildren, Quin and Natalie Blakely, and Gabrielle and Ethan Woodworth; step-great-great-grandchildren, Brayden and Koby; and great-great-grandson, Jaxx, who was born shortly before Freda passed; and niece, Barbara (husband Michael) Branecky.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded by her parents, sisters, Betty Neher Leavitt and Barbara Neher McClatchey; and grandson, John D. Starcher.
Services for Freda will be held on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 12 Noon with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM at Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel with Pastor Philip Whisler officiating.
Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery in Kentland, IN following the service.
