Frieda Starr Gascho, 74, of rural Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at her home. She was born in Medford, Oregon, on September 29, 1947, to Richard and Lois Pauline (Newton) Trapp. She married Kevin A. Gascho on July 15, 1995, at the Mulberry United Methodist Church; he survives.
Frieda graduated from Lafayette Jeff High School. She retired from Lafayette Dental Lab, as a dental technician, after working there for many years. Frieda loved spending time with her family, grandkids, watching her granddaughters dance, and her dogs Wrigley and Wrexton. She also loved to fly with “Uncle T” and watching Purdue Basketball. Frieda enjoyed being outdoors at her Koi pond, and spent many hours gardening and hanging out in her Teepee in the backyard. She was certified in Reiki healing and had collected many crystal healing stones.
Surviving with her husband are her sons, Robert L. (Sheila) Whitus of Lafayette, Brian R. (Stacy) Whitus of West Point, and Christal S. (Alan Brown) McDuffie of Lafayette; brother, Marvin (Vikki) Shaffer of Helendale, CA; sister, Linda Shaffer of Lafayette; brother, Gordon (Cindy Treece) Shaffer of Lafayette; grandchildren, Corwin Green, Cameron Whitus, Corrin Whitus, Megan McDuffie, Mylee Whitus, Jake Wickes, and Caitlin Bennett.
Frieda is preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, 2022, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home ~ Mulberry Chapel Burial will be private at a later date in the Fair Haven Cemetery.
