Galen B. Welk, 95, of Rossville, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014, at his home.
He was born April 16, 1919, in Minot, N. Dakota, the son of Mervin and Ethel Moore Welk. On December 9, 1939, he married Marie Donnabelle Yoder; she survives.
Galen lived in the Rossville area since1939. He was a carpenter for Dahnke Building Services from 1969 to 1985 when he retired. Galen was a member of the Middlefork Old German Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Galen is survived by three children, Max (Judy) Welk, Gordon (Mildred) Welk, and Carolyn Welk, all of Rossville; one sister, Nellie Kessler of Rossville; four grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
Galen is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Robert, Floyd, Marlin, and Charles âBillâ Welk.
Visitation for Galen will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral service for Galen will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Middlefork Old German Baptist Church in Rossville on Wednesday, June 4, 2014.
