George E. Brovont, 81, of Rossville and formerly of Pyrmont, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at his home with his family.
He was born January 26, 1932, in Elkhart County, the son of Elmer A. and Rosa K. Ganger Brovont. On April 14, 1954, he married the former Edis R. Baker in Pyrmont; she survives.
In 1950, he graduated from Rossville High School. George worked as a heavy equipment operator and manager for Acme Materials and later for John E. Smith Enterprises for 15 years. From 1980-2003, he worked in apartment maintenance. George was a member of Old German Baptist Brethren Church, New Conference.
In addition to his wife, George is survived by two sons, Douglas E. (Debbie) Brovont of Rossville, and Dean F. (Deanne) Brovont of Bringhurst; three daughters, Sherrill (Darrell) Boyd of Rossville, Lisa Lynn (Duane) Bowman of Rossville, and Gwynne (Randy) Peters of Bringhurst; one sister, Marjorie Steven of Rossville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Brovont of Kokomo; 20 grandchildren, and 37 great grandchildren.
George is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dannie Brovont.
Visitation will be held on Friday, June 28, 2013, from 2-5 pm and 6-8 pm at North Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church in Pyrmont. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013, at the church with the Home Brethren New Conference officiating. Burial will follow in North Fork Old German Baptist Cemetery.
