George Robert McCain

George Robert “Bob” McCain, 90, a lifelong Carroll County resident, passed away Monday, September 2, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Health Care in Delphi.

He was born August 12, 1923, in Carroll County, the son of Carl Bliss and Margaret Guard McCain.  On December 9, 1967, he married the former Ruth Ellen Green Roberts; she survives.

Bob served in the United States Army during World War II from 1943-1945.  He was a grain and hog farmer.  Bob was a member of Sharon Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Masonic Lodge 211, Murat Shrine, Scottish Rite, and Elks #190 in Kokomo.  He enjoyed collecting R.S. Prussia and was a strong supporter and contributor of Riley Children’s Hospital and Boystown.

In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by one brother, J. Richard McCain; one sister, Mary Virginia Richards; one niece, Nancy Richards; and one nephew, Ron Richards.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2013, at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral service.  The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Williams officiating.  Burial will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora.  Online condolences may be directed to gendafuneralhome.com.
