Mrs. Scott was born July 3, 1919 in Waterloo, Iowa to Harold Clifton and Ida Mae (Molesberry) Finney. She married Robert Leslie Scott on October 3, 1937 in Waterloo and he preceded her in death on May 15, 1992.

She owned a family farm in Paragon for 15 years. She worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for Genda Auto Sales for six years and then Scheid Oldsmobile and Cadillac for 16 years.
