Georgia Irene Scott, 91, Indianapolis, died at 1:30 a.m. March 26, 2011 at Millers Merry Manor East in Indianapolis.
Mrs. Scott was born July 3, 1919 in Waterloo, Iowa to Harold Clifton and Ida Mae (Molesberry) Finney. She married Robert Leslie Scott on October 3, 1937 in Waterloo and he preceded her in death on May 15, 1992.
She owned a family farm in Paragon for 15 years. She worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for Genda Auto Sales for six years and then Scheid Oldsmobile and Cadillac for 16 years. She moved to Frankfort in December 1954 from Milton. Before residing in Millers Merry Manor East she was formerly of 505 S. Maish Rd.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Frankfort where she taught Sunday school for many years. She also served as a deacon at the church and sang in the choir from 1956 through 1977. She was a member of the Home Study Club and O.E.S. Clinton County Chapter. She enjoyed the outdoors through R.V. camping, fishing and gardening. The church played an important role in Georgiaâs life, but most importantly she was a loving family matriarch.
She is survived by her four children, Gerald Robert (special friend Nancy Bell) Scott of Fort Wayne, William Clifton (wife Shirley) Scott of Indianapolis, Timothy Ray (wife Roberta) Scott of Rocky Mount, NC and Darlene Georgia Wakeland of Indianapolis; a son-in-law, Larry Howe of Portland, Oregon; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lucille Howe; one brother, Robert; two sisters, Sally Jane Carris and Gladys Finney; and two daughter-in-laws, Yvonne and Jannette Scott.
Services officiated by Pastor Chuck Williams will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday March 29, 2011 at First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Green Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home and one hour prior to service at church.
