Gerald E. Davis, 78, of Frankfort, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born Jan. 2, 1935, in Clinton County, to Lester and Gertrude Viola Long Davis. On Jan. 3, 1981, he married the former Ida Fisher in Frankfort; she survives.
Gerald served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Korean War. Gerald worked for 35 years in the construction business. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Frankfort.
In addition to his wife, Gerald is survived by three children: Tommy Lee Thomas of Jensen Beach, Fla., Deborah Kay (David) Evans of Kirklin and Myra (David) Rounds of Frankfort; four brothers: Marvin Davin of Louisville, Ky., Jack (Marilyn) Davis of Monticello, Fred (Carolyn) Davis of Frankfort and Donald (Shirley) Davis of Frankfort; one sister: Evelyn Joan (Gordon) Dean of Frankfort; a sister-in-law: Jerry Davis of North Carolina; four grandchildren: Bill and Michael Evans, Branden Day and Amanda Gay; and seven great grandchildren.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: John Davis; two sisters: Julia Hobson and Gladys Louise Vergari, both of Frankfort; and one brother-in-law: Robert Vergari.
Visitation for Gerald will be 5-8 p.m. Friday April 19 at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday April 20 at the funeral home, with Pastor Shan Sheridan presiding. Burial will follow in Kilmore Cemetery with military burial rites. Memorials in Gerald’s name may be made to Clinton County Cancer. Online condolences may be directed to gendafuneralhome.com.
