Gerald G. Gascho

Gerald G. “Gerry” Gascho, 73, of Rossville, passed away Friday, February 28, 2014, at his home in Rossville.

He was born October 17, 1940, in Mulberry, the son of Alpha R. and Vela Bell Gascho.   Gerry married Rita Rumper in 1976; she preceded him in death July 31, 1995.  

Gerry graduated from Rossville High School in 1958 and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics from San Jose State.  He retired from the United States Navy in 1991 after serving our country for 28-1/2 years.  Part of his service time was during the Vietnam War.  He lived in the Rossville area most of his life, except while serving in the Navy and for some time when he lived in Florida.  Gerry was a member of the American Legion and the Elks, both in Florida.  

Gerry is survived by two children, Steve Gascho of Portland, TN, and Rebecca (Paul) Marsh of Loveland, CO; three brothers, Ron (Vicki) Gascho of Rossville, Samuel (Jean) Gascho of WI, and Roger (Dedger) Gascho of TN; two sisters, Wilma Roush of Lafayette and Anne (George) Glick of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Jaxton, Conner, and Kelly; and several nieces and nephews.  

Visitation for Gerry will be held at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, from 9 am until the beginning of the funeral service at 12 pm.  Burial will follow in Geetingsville Cemetery with military graveside honors.  Memorials in Gerry’s name may be made to American Cancer Society.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
