Giles M. Walker, 87, of Kirklin, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at 1:10 p.m. at Witham Hospital in Lebanon.
He was born January 19, 1926, in rural Kirklin, the son of Elvin and Bertha Price Walker.
On July 28, 1946, he married the former Barbara Pritchett in Hillisburg; she preceded him in death December 6, 2010.
After graduation, Giles served during World War II in the United States Navy. He was owner and operator of G.M. Walker and Sons Heating and Air Conditioning from 1970 until his retirement in 1996. Giles was a member of the Kirklin United Methodist Church, Kirklin Masonic Lodge and the American Legion; he was also a ham radio operator known as W9QYY.
Surviving Giles are his children, John P. (Jane) Walker of Kirklin, Mark R. (Diane) Walker of Frankfort, Barbara K. (Jack) Trenary of Forest, Ken M. (Karen) Walker of Kirklin, and David A. (Melanie) Walker of Kirklin; one sister-in-law, Eva Mae Walker of Muncie; 13 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Giles is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Meredith Walker; and one infant great grandchild.
Private family funeral services will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Memorials in Gilesâ name may be made to the American Heart Association or Honor Flight Network.
