Gladys E. Miller, 79, of Frankfort, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born November 17, 1933, in Livermore, Penn., the daughter of Harry H. and Mildred N. Redding Barnhart. On June 11, 1952, she married Bert C. Miller in Blairsville, Penn.; he survives.
Throughout her life, Gladys worked as a cashier at Marsh Supermarket for 10 years, was human resources manager at Indiana Brass for 19 years, and was a loan officer at Encompass Credit Union formerly Nickel Plate Credit Union for 16 years before her retirement in 2006. Gladys was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church where she was active with Sunday school and member of the Board of Trustees, Financial Board-Membership Sect, UMW where she served as treasurer, Marthaâs Circle, and church choir for over 50 years. She was a past member of Zonta.
In addition to her husband, Gladys is survived by three sons, Jeffry L. (Sheila) Miller, Larry J. (Pamela) Miller, and Richard W. (Melody Ann) Miller, all of Frankfort; one daughter, Melody G. Fuller of Michigantown; three brothers, Lyle A. (Ellen) Barnhart of Blairsville, Penn., Glenn A. Barnhart of Belle Vernon, Penn., and Paul H. (Arlene) Barnhart of Derry, Penn.; two sisters, Ruth Trimble of Blairsville, Penn., and Evelyn (Orin) Miller of Latrobe, Penn.; sister-in-law; Kathryn Barnhart of Blairsville, Penn.; 12 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, one great, great grandchild, and exchange student, Cees Rijksen of Netherlands.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and one sister.
A gathering of family and friends will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at United Presbyterian Church of Blainsville, 137 N. Walnut St., Blainsville, PA, with the memorial service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Rev. Timothy Monroe will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2013, at St. Matthew United Methodist Church from 2:00 â 6:00 p.m. and also one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral service for Gladys will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2013, at the church with Pastor Jake Fisher officiating. Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort. Memorials in Gladysâ name may be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, Indiana.
