Gracie Jessee

Gracie Jessee, 91 formerly of Buckcreek, died on Friday, October 1, 2010, at 3:25 PM at Milner Community Health Care in Rossville, Indiana.

Born September 26, 1919 in Tazewell, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Martin and Lily (Massengill) Johnson.  

On December 22, 1934, she married Vurley L. Jessee and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1983.

She was a homemaker, a member of Old Oxford Baptist Church and had lived in the Buckcreek area for 61 years..

Surviving are four daughters, Joy (husband Boyd) Stewart of Kingman, IN, Carolyn (husband Luther) Dowell of Remington, IN, Vicki (husband Lee) Sandiful of Lafayette, and Mary Jessee of Lafayette, one sister, Stella Payne of Terre Haute, six grandchildren, Michelle Stewart, Karen (husband Terry) Layhew, David Dowell, Bob Dowell, Alisa Merrymen and Shane Sandifur and ten great-grandchildren Lane, Crystal, Taychal, Joe Curtis, Logan, Jess, Jordan, Mason, Josie and Samuel, four great-great-grandchildren, Bryce, Kade, Cayne and Kyzen.

She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, one child and onhe great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 5 at Old Oxford Baptist Church with Rev. timothy Lyons officiating. Interment will be in Old Oxford Baptist Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 5, at Old Oxford Baptist Church.
