Grover Cleveland Garrison Jr. âGary,â 88, of Frankfort, formerly of 5175 E. State Road 28 in Frankfort, died on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at 4:00 p.m. at Clinton House in Frankfort.
He was born September 16, 1924, in Mulberry, the son of Grover C., Sr. and Lena E. (DuVall) Garrison.
On May 22, 1947, he married the former Dora Mae Kauffman in Kankakee, IL; she preceded him in death on July 29, 2006.
Gary graduated from Mulberry High School in 1942. Gary served in the United States Army from March 11, 1943 to December 27, 1946 during World War II. He moved to Frankfort from Mulberry in 1947. Gary owned and operated Garrison Oil Co for 18 years, worked for Clinton Equipment Co. for five years and later Sears. Gary retired from Frankfort Bottle Gas after 18 years. He was a former member of Kiwanis and Moose.
Surviving Gary are three sons, Timothy A. (Jeanine) Garrison of Frankfort, Michael C. (Joan) Garrison of Kings Mountain, NC, and Jan Mark (Crissie) Garrison of Plymouth; one daughter, Melissa (Larry) Miller of Frankfort; one brother, James Henry Garrison of Bloomington; two sisters, Evelyn Schetzsle of Lafayette and Genevieve Marrow of Lebanon; ten grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and eight sisters.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 27, 2012, from 3-7 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Funeral service for Gary will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
Memorials in Garyâs name may be made to the American Heart Association.
