Harold C. Pence, Jr.

Harold C. Pence Jr., 69, of Frankfort passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. He was born on February 27, 1947 in Frankfort, the son of the late Harold C. Sr. and Maxine (Payne) Pence and was the second great-grandson of John Pence, founder of Frankfort. On October 27, 2001 Harold married Exie Saulsberry Hurt whom survives.

Harold was a 1965 graduate of Frankfort High School and was a United States Air Force Veteran, having served during the Vietnam war. Harold worked for Federal Mogul, then Beard industry/Brock Equipment for 30 years before retiring. After his retirement, he delivered for Sparrow Florist. He was an avid Colts fan and loved spending time with his grandchildren; Harold also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, woodworking and traveling.

Surviving family includes his wife of 16 years, Exie; daughter, Monica Adams of Gallatin, Tn; step-children, Anna (Mike) Herbert of Sheridan and Denny (Ellen) Hurt of Frankfort; 4 grandchildren, Frank Adams, Alexandria Hurt, Katie Herbert and Abby Herbert; sister Rita (Joe) Ferguson of Green Castle and brother-in-law, Merle Spangle of Flora.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Spangle.

The funeral service will be at 1:00p.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 – 7:00p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
