Harold D. Lewis, 95, of Frankfort, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, at his sonâs home.
He was born February 27, 1919, in Forest, the son of Charles O. and Grace Gregg Lewis. On August 21, 1945, he married Vivian M. Baughman; she preceded him in death on November 9, 2007.
Harold attended Frankfort Schools. He served in the United States Army from 1941-1945 during World War II. Harold worked for Frankfort Light and Power until retiring in 1975. Along with his wife, they moved and managed a mobile home park in Ft. Myers, FL, then relocated to New Mexico to manage a motel. He returned to the Frankfort area in 1988. Harold was a 52 years member of the American Legion and member of the Moose Lodge.
Surviving Harold are three sons, Tom (Pam) Lewis of Artesia, New Mexico, and Dave (Rita) Lewis and Steve (Julia) Lewis, both of Frankfort; one daughter, Patty (Harry) Gaskamp of Brenham, Texas; one sister, Helen Wyant of Michigantown; 16 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Harold is preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Bonnie Lewis.
Visitation for Harold will be held on Friday, June 6, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 11:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Ken Rushing will officiate. Burial will follow at Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort with Military Honors. Memorials in Haroldâs name may be made to the American Kidney Fund.
