Harriet E. Amstutz, 88, of rural Lafayette, died on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Milner Community Health Care in Rossville.

She was born January 24, 1924, near Dayton, the daughter of Joseph G. and Helen Kate Lockwood McMillin.

On August 16, 1942, she married Vernon E. Amstutz; he preceded her in death on January 7, 2005.

Harriet graduated from Dayton High School in 1942.  She was a farmer, a member of the Indiana Farm Bureau, and a member of the former Mennonite Evangelical Church in Lafayette.

Harriet is survived by her children, Dewayne (wife, Linda) Amstutz of Brownsville, Ind., Dennis Amstutz of Lafayette, Theresa (husband, Duane) Hostetler of Goshen, Ind., Linda (husband, Randy) Vanderwall of Earl Park, Ind., Cynthia (husband, Emerson) Nafziger of Champaign, Ill., and Katrina Amstutz of Lafayette; one brother, Joseph G. McMillin of Lafayette; 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 6 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012, at Bodine Funeral Home in Rossville from 12:30-1:30 p.m.  Funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Joseph Park, Jr. officiating.  Burial will follow in Tippecanoe Memory Garden in Lafayette.
