Harriett Esther Lerch Cable, 80, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at her home surrounded by family and friends.  

Born in Lafayette, on January 21, 1936, Harriett was the daughter of the late Harry and Lillian Seybold Lerch.  Harriett attended and graduated from Monitor High School in 1954.  On February 20, 1954, she married Clarence Junior “JR” Cable who survives; together they recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary.  They had two children, Carrie Lynn Cable Woodruff and Clark Allen Cable.

In the summer months, Harriett and JR lived on Lake Freeman in Monticello, IN.  They enjoyed their winter months on Lake Rose in Orlando, FL, where she enjoyed attending St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.  Harriett enjoyed working in her flower gardens, bird watching, and loved tropical islands.  She loved to spend time with her family and friends.

Having worked at Schwab Corp. for 25 years as Human Resources Manager in the Payroll and Benefits Department, Harriett retired in 1995.  While there she belonged to the American Payroll Association for 12 years.  After her retirement, she worked at Bennett’s Greenhouse for five years.

In addition to her husband and daughter of Lafayette, Harriett is survived by four grandchildren, Christy Lynn (Rick) Robertson of Lafayette, Chad Michael Woodruff of Monticello, Austin Ryan Cable of Denver, CO, and Megan Taylor Cable of Atlanta, GA; four great grandchildren, Brock, Sienna, and Cole Robertson and Chance Woodruff; and also several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son, Clark A. Cable; and brother, Russell J. Lerch.

Visitation will be held at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. to the start of the funeral service at 3:00 p.m.  Rev. Zachary Rainey will officiate.  Burial will follow in Pyrmont Cemetery.  Memorials in Harriett’s name may be made to Clinton County Cancer.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
