Helen L. Johnson, 93, formerly of Rossville, passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi.
She was born August 13, 1923, in Shelby County, to Albert and Bessie Monroe Woolman. On February 21, 1944, Helen married Lloyd Johnson; he preceded her in death on November 21, 1991.
Helen graduated from Boggstown High School on April 29, 1941. She retired from P.R. Mallory and had later worked at RCA in Indianapolis. Helen lived in the Rossville area for over 50 years and was a member of Rossville Presbyterian Church and American Legion Auxiliary. She volunteered for the Rossville Food Pantry for many years and enjoyed playing cards, reading, and dining out.
Surviving Helen are her children, Harry (Cathy) Johnson, of Madison, AL, and Sandra (Lynn) Ward, of Delphi; daughter-in-law, Karen Johnson, of Cayuga; six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Helen is preceded in death by her parents, son, Lloyd; two brothers, and four sisters.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Michael Lyle will officiate.
