Helen Lewing

Helen Lewing, 89, of Lafayette, died at 1:50PM Feb. 5, 2012, at Mulberry Health & Retirement Community.

She was a secretary at Air Service Command at Dayton, OH during WWII, later worked at Coapstick Insurance Agency in Frankfort for many years then retired from Lincoln Bank in Frankfort in 1987. She had been a Lafayette resident since Sept. 2003, and lived in Rossville from 1942-2003. She was a former resident of Gosport & Switz City, IN and Georgetown, IL

A member of Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church, she served as an Elder, Choir Director, and Sunday School Teacher, and also was a member of Leisure Book Club
She graduated from Georgetown High School in 1940 and attended Eastern IL University.

Born May 25, 1922, in Gosport, IN, her parents were the late Maurice F. & Lea (Cherry) Lewing.

Survivors:1 Sister - Mona Reynolds of Rossville, IN; 4 Great-Nieces - Deana Sotelo of West Lafayette, Terry Snapp of Lafayette, Rachael Guinn of West Lafayette & Beth Johnson of Lafayette; 1 Great-Nephew - Tim Snapp of Lafayette.

Preceded in death by: 2 Nephews, Don & Gary Snapp, 1 Great-Niece Tracy Snapp & 1 Great-Nephew Tony Snapp.

Celebration of Life 10:30AM Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to services, with Pastor Donna Enersen officiating. Burial at Green Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.
