Helen Lucile Hodson, 100, of Rossville, passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2015, surrounded by her family, at Milner Community Health Care in Rossville.

She was born June 24, 1915, in Amboy, Ind., to Harvey and Mary Pearson Haines.  On October 28, 1934, she married Laurell P. Hodson in Amboy; he preceded her in death on January 15, 1993.

Lucile graduated from Amboy High School in 1933, and then moved to Rossville in 1934.  Lucile served as secretary and bookkeeper of the family business, Hodson Plumbing and Heating, from 1945 to 1973 while she and Laurell owned the business, and again as their son, Kenneth, ran the business before her retirement in 1989.  She was a member of Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church and also held office with Crawfordsville Presbyterian Church.  Lucile was also a member Leisure Hour Book Club and Lafayette Historic Auto Club. She served on the board of Rossville Food Pantry and of Rossville School PTA.  Lucile was a kind loving mother and grandmother, and her family was most important to her.

Surviving Lucile are three sons, Stephen C. and Janet Hodson, Kenneth W. and Jerilynn Hodson, and Philip J. and Debby Hodson, all of Rossville; one sister, Grace Haines of Rossville; 14 grandchildren, David (Kelly) Hodson, Melissa (Gary) Ostler, John (Shelley) Bowlin, Stephanie (Larry) Rodkey, Melissa (Aaron) Nacke, Suzann (David) Terry, Douglas (Anne) Hodson, Phyllis (Tim) Hutsell, Cindy (Brian) Bergeron, Karen (Joe) Slaght, Melinda (Ray) Walsh, Joe (Raelene) Hodson, Kimberly (Terry) Clark and Michelle (Greg) Longenecker;  31 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Lucile is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one brother, grandson, Stephen Laurell; and daughter-in-law, Clydelle Hodson.

Private graveside services will be held.  Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel.  Memorials in Lucile’s name may be made to Pleasant Presbyterian Hill Church, 5940 N. State Road 39, Frankfort, IN, 46041.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
