Hilda VanBodegraven Kolb, 102, of Frankfort, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community.
She was born December 28, 1912, in Highland, to George and Anna DeMaar Boersma. On May 23, 1937, she married Arthur VanBodegraven; he passed on December 24, 1953. On June 23, 1973, she married Fred Kolb; he preceded her in death on May 31, 1999.
Hilda graduated from Griffith High School in 1930 and from Hammond Business College in 1931. She was an executive secretary for Inland Steel from 1954 until her retirement in 1973. Hilda was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church where she had sung in the choir; she had also sung in the Wesley Manor Choir. She was also a member of the Deborah Circle and the Singing Saints. Hilda was a past member of Town and County Extension and Red Cross Volunteer.
Surviving are her sons, Arthur (Phyllis) VanBodegraven of Powell, OH, Alan (Donna) VanBodegraven of Burlington, NC, and Jon W. (Sharon) VanBodegraven of Highland; step-sons, Ronald F. (Mary) Kolb of Erie, PA, and Allen R. (Joann) Kolb of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Grayce Witvliet of Grandville, MI, and Pearl Adams of South Holland, IL; 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and several great, great grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, Hilda is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and six brothers.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2015, at Amanda Reid Memorial Chapel at Wesley Manor in Frankfort, from 12:30 p.m. to the start of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. Chaplain Barbara Kinsler will officiate.
