Hubert B. Cheesman, 86, Frankfort, died at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 18, 2011 at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital.
Mr. Cheesman was born July 23, 1924 in Muncie to Buren A. and Dora E. (Gum) Cheesman. He married Mary Pat Irwin on June 24, 1951 and she survives.
He graduated from Rossville High School in 1942 and was a WWII veteran, serving with the Army Air Corps in the European Theater. He also graduated from the Spartan School of Aeronautics and received an A&E license. He worked in experimental aviation design for Allison Gas Turbines for 50 years and retired in 1992. He moved to Frankfort on July 30, 1991. His hobbies included remote control and ultra light airplanes. He also had his pilotâs license. He was a member of Mount Hope Chapel in Michigantown and the UAW.
Surviving are his wife of Frankfort; one daughter, Trudy Kaye (husband Butch) Beckner, Frankfort; one son, Rudy Ray Cheesman, Frankfort; two grandchildren, Chad (wife Natalie) Hodgen and Evan (wife Kristen) Hodgen; and six great-grandchildren, Danielle, Taylor, Hannah, Sam, Lela and Ben.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Kay.
Services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Genda Funeral Home, Greg Tegarden officiating. Calling hours will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery with military burial rites.
