Imajeane Beard

Imajeane Burkhalter Beard, 85, of Mulberry, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2015, at Mulberry Health.

She was born May 31, 1930, in Lafayette, to O. Edgar and Mary E. Pickering Eubanks.  On June 12, 1949, she married Merrill P. Burkhalter; he preceded her in death on December 11, 1997.  Imajeane later married Robert J. Beard; he preceded her in death on October 17, 2010.

Imajeane grew up in the Dayton area; she graduated from Dayton High School in 1948.  She worked at the State Wide Union Offices for Retail Clerks in Lafayette, until it moved to Washington D.C. in 1950.  Throughout her married life, Imajeane was a farm wife.  Imajeane was a member of Mulberry Trinity Church.

Surviving Imajeane are three sons, Steven D. (Frances) Burkhalter of Frankfort, Donald E. (Pat) Burkhalter of rural Mulberry, and Michael P. (Janet) Burkhalter of rural Frankfort; one daughter, Brenda Sue (William) Melville of Lafayette; two step-sons, Michael A. (Pam) Beard of Frankfort, and Edward J. (Winifred) Beard of Rossville; two step-daughters, Linda J. Beard of Lowell, and Marsha A. (Irvin) Hosfield of Frankfort; nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel from 3:00 -7:00 p.m.  Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Trinity Church in Mulberry with Pastor Phil Whisler officiating.  Burial will follow in Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry.  Memorials in Imajeane’s name may be made to the American Heart Association or Alzheimer's Association.
