Imogene Stewart Boxwell, 95, a lifelong resident and beautician in Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community.
Imogene was born November 20, 1918, in New Albany, Floyd County, Ind., to Ralph and Maude Stewart. Her early childhood was spent in North Vernon, Ind., where she graduated from North Vernon High School. After graduation, Imogene moved to Frankfort with her family, living and working there for the rest of her life.
In 1937, Imogene graduated from beauty school. She retired as a hairdresser from Modern Beauty Shop in 1980. She met Cletis Faye Boxwell of Frankfort, sometime after becoming a beautician; they married June 10, 1939. He predeceased her.
Imogene is survived by her sister, Carmen Stewart Lucas of Crossville, TN, two nephews, Jim (Betty) Lucas of Berea, KY, and Dave (Judy) Lucas of Crossville, TN, and great niece Samantha Lucas of Crossville, TN.
In addition to her husband, Imogene is predeceased by her parents, sister, Avis Stewart (Marvin) Doughty; and son, Dan Boxwell.
Visitation for Imogene will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort from 10:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Paul Whitaker will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort next to her husband, Cletis, and son, Dan. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Wesley Manor, 1555 N.
