Inez A. Pence, 87, of Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the Legacy at Creasy Springs in Lafayette.
She was born July 28, 1926, in Scott County, the daughter of Irwin and Edna Reed Payne. On July 26, 1946, she married Dale âFredâ Pence; he preceded her in death on June 4, 1997.
Throughout her life, Inez worked at Jewel Simon, Mallory Controls, National Seal, Clinton Prairie School Corp., Crawfordville Hospital, and retired from Wesley Manor Retirement Community. After retiring, she continued to work for Parkview Home and Ponderosa. She was a member of First Baptist Church and VFW Post 1110. Inez created and sold crafts at flea markets but her greatest joy was her grandchildren and her dogs.
Surviving are two sons, Dale F. Pence, Jr. (Lisa) and John I. Pence (Marcia), both of San Antonio, TX; two daughters, Terri Grubb of Frankfort, and Joan Pence of Lafayette; three sisters, Charlene Birden of Frankfort, Emmaline Staley of Frankfort, and Helen Ray of Lafayette; seven grandchildren, Brian Grubb (Yolanda), Brandon Grubb (Kim), Brad Grubb (Kristen), Kayla Larsh (Creston), Kevin Maxwell (April), Kassandra Pence, and Kaitlinn Pence, 12 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her husband, Inez is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Douglas Payne, Irwin âBudâ Payne, Don Payne, David Payne, and Bill Payne; and one sister, Maxine Pence.
