Irene E. Cable Baladi, 73, sister of local Rossville resident, Jerry Cable, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was born April 14, 1943, in Clinton County, to Millard E. and Mary Endress Cable. Irene grew up in Carroll County and attended Rossville High School. She then graduated from Purdue University with her bachelor degree in nursing.
On July 3, 1971, she married Emile Baladi. They resided in Kansas City where Irene was a member of the brain surgical team. After they moved to San Antonio, she joined a prestigious heart surgical team. In 2006, she returned to be with her family in Lafayette. She was a former member of the North Fork Old German Baptist Brethren Church.
Surviving Irene are her husband, of Florida; brother, Jerry L. (Kathleen) Cable, of Rossville; one nephew, Jon (Aleta) Cable, of Lafayette; two nieces, Kayleen (Dale) Schleinitz, of Ohio, and Denita (Luke) Hess, of Pennsylvania; great nephews, Wes Cable, Evan Cable, Zachary Burns, Marcus Hess, Jesse Hess, Samuel Hess, and Mylon Hess; great nieces, April Kelson â Marla Cable, Brandie Burns, Marissa Schleinitz, Monica Jones, and Hannah Hess; and three great-great-nephews.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents, one nephew-in-law, Steve Burns; and one great-nephew, Joshua Hess.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 3:00 â 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 â 8:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2017, at the funeral home with Jay Brubaker leading. Burial will follow in the North Fork Old German Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ireneâs name may be made to NAMI of West Central Indiana.
