Ivan John Hayden, 83, of Flora, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at his home.
He was born July 30, 1930, in Logansport, the son of John and Bertha Conklin Hayden. On August 22, 1954, he married the former Yvonne Blocher; she survives. Together, they had enjoyed 59 years of marriage.
Ivan was in the United States Army. He also worked for Chrysler in the Machine Repair Department, retiring in 1991 after 34 years. He also worked for S.U.S. Cast Products in Logansport. Ivan was a member of the Shilo Christian Church in Logansport and attended Bringhurst United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing and cherished his time spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Ivan is survived by two sons, Brad (Deanna) Hayden and Phillip (Elizabeth) Hayden; one brother, Dale (Nancy) Hayden; four grandchildren, Amber (Jason) Clark, Aaron (Tabitha) Hayden, Joshua Hayden (friend, Megan Mullins), and Hope Hayden (fiancé David Zeh); four great-grandchildren, Morgan Clark, Hayden Clark, Riley Hayden, and Reid Hayden; and several nieces and nephews.
Ivan was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings, Donald Hayden, Dora Jean Montgomery, Lucille Shanks, Velda Arion, Lawrence Hayden, Glenda Martin, Harold Sanders, and Eva Wedekin
Graveside services for Ivan will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Beech Grove Cemetery in Sharon, Indiana. Pastor Joe Boggs will officiate. Memorials in Ivanâs name may be made to Bringhurst United Methodist Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora.
