Jack A. Davis, 84, of Frankfort, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015, at his home.
He was born September 29, 1930, in Crawfordsville, to Glenn Davis and Pearl Newlin Davis Swisher. On October 11, 1951, Jack married Marian Grayson; she survives.
Jack worked as a brakeman and switchman then was promoted conductor through his over 30 year career with the Nickel Plate and Norfolk & Southern Railroads. Side by side with his son, Dale, and his grandson, Todd, Jack worked in construction also. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Jackâs family extends a special thank you to Guardian Angel Hospice for their care and compassion.
In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by his sons, Sammy Davis (partner, Nancy Salem) of Lafayette, Phillip (Vickie) Davis, of Crawfordsville, Gary Davis of Waterloo, IN, Dale (Sue) Davis of Frankfort, and Bill Davis (partner, Matthew Ridenour) of South Bend; sister, Betty Shrout of Crawfordsville; 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his step father, James Swisher, and one sister, Norma Denius.
Visitation for Jack will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 2:00 â 5:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2015, at the funeral home with Paul Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort. Memorials in Jackâs name may be made to Faith, Love, & Hope Charity, or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
