James “Earl” Simpson, 76, of Rossville, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Indiana Veteran’s Home in Lafayette. He was born December 19, 1947, in Frankfort to Charles Edwin and Myrtle (Barlow) Simpson. He married Cynthia “Cyndi” Bagwell on June 15, 1974, and she survives.
Earl was a 1967 graduate of Carroll High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a Chinook Helicopter Mechanic. When he returned, he worked for Briggs in Flora. He was a member of the American Legion Post 12 in Frankfort. He enjoyed traveling and doing work in the yard.
Along with his wife of 49 years, Earl is survived by his close brothers, Lee (Joyce) Simpson and Ron (Cindy) Simpson; two other brothers and two sisters; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial visitation will be held Friday, March 29, 2024, from 3pm until the time of the memorial service at 5pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel. Military rites will be performed by the Clinton County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made in Earl’s honor to Indiana Veteran’s Home.
