James Ed Ferry, 74, of Prattville, AL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2013, at his home with family at his side.
He was born June 28, 1939, in Tazewell, TN, the son of William Moss and Essie Maud Roark Ferry.
Ed graduated from Mulberry High School in 1957. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in April 1957. In addition to several duty stations around the world, he served in Vietnam. He retired from the Air Force after 20 years then continued to serve 26 years for the Air Force as a Civil Service employee. Ed was a distinguished member of the Shriners organization and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Mulberry, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Moose Lodge in Prattville, AL.
He is survived by three children, Theresa Lynne (Pat) Weber of Las Vegas, NV Ernest William (Sabrena) Ferry of Prattville, AL, and James Brian (Laura) Ferry of Baker, FL, and; three brothers, Joe (Carolyn) Ferry of Greenwood, SC, Jack (Karen) Ferry of Lafayette, and Bill (Shirley) Ferry of Bessemer, AL; three sisters, Delpha Ward of Lafayette, IN, Roxie (Ross) Terry of Monticello, and Susie (Frank) Dooley of Mathews, NC; and eight grandchildren, Michael Weber, Ryan Ross, Brittani Weber, Addie Phillips, Zac Phillips, Seth Ferry, Jacob Moate, and Hartley Moate.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Maud and Moss, and one brother, Roy Ferry.
Visitation will be held at Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, from 12:00 p.m. until the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Lore Blinn Gibson will officiate. Burial will follow in Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry, IN with full Military graveside honors performed.
