James F. âJimâ Layton, 70, of Frankfort, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2015, at his home.
He was born September 26, 1945, in Frankfort, to John Franklin and Geneva Ruth Lucas Layton; his mother survives. On March 5, 1966, he married Gloria Goodwin; she survives.
Jim graduated from Frankfort Senior High School in 1963. Throughout his life, Jim worked at the former General Battery and now Exide, Emerson, and Frankfort Public Library while farming and raising cattle, core horses, and Shetland ponies with his parents. He was a former member of the IBEW and attended Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife and mother, Jim is survived by three children, Jason Layton of Lafayette, Monica A. (Jason) Sharkey of Lebanon, and Pamela J. Layton of Frankfort; one granddaughter, Piper Faye Sharkey; and one brother, Kenneth Layton of Frankfort.
Visitation for Jim will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 4:00 â 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at the funeral home with Pastor Donna Enerson officiating. Burial will follow in Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry. Memorials in Jimâs name may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Clinton County Cancer.
