James F. Stinson, 95 of Mulberry passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Mulberry Health. He was born August 7, 1921 in Frankfort to James T. and Nellie Jane (Wainscott) Stinson.
Jim graduated from Frankfort Senior High School in 1940 where he played on the 1939 State Championship basketball team. He was a World War II veteran, having served in the United States Army. He fought at the battle of Anzio Beach in the Italian Campaign during WWII. Jim worked for Rea Magnet Wire in Lafayette and was a member of Mulberry United Methodist Church, the American Legion in Frankfort and the Mulberry Community Club, where he served as president and was a former Madison Township Trustee. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, vegetable gardening and coaching girlsâ softball teams.
On January 1, 1943, Jim married the former Virginia Good, she preceded him in death on July 19, 2004. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Surviving family includes one son, John (Carolyn) Stinson of Lafayette; four daughters, Suzanne (David) Kelsey of Lafayette, Cathy (John) Harden of Mulberry, Elizabeth (Dan) Copley of Rochester and Sarah Mullen of Mulberry; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Genda Funeral Home-Mulberry Chapel with Pastor Harley Helm officiating. Burial will follow at Fair Haven Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Monday, March 20, 2017, from 4:00 â 7:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home-Mulberry Chapel. Donations in memory of Jim may be made to Mulberry United Methodist Church or Clinton County Humane Society.
