James “Jim” N. Stewart, 82, passed away on May 7, 2020 at his home. He was born on October 8, 1937, to Willie and Terrace (Lillard) Stewart in Bethpage, TN. He moved to Indiana at the age of fifteen settling most of his life in the town of Kirklin.
Jim married Janet Mae Fausett on August 18, 1956. She survives.
Jim worked for Carr Cabinet before he became the owner and operator of James N. Stewart Trucking. He spent over forty years building his fleet of trucks.
Jim enjoyed gardening, semi-truck drag racing, collecting, and wheelin’ and dealin’. Jim often said, “You have to spend money to make money.”
He is survived by his daughters; Sandra (Rick) Workman and Pamela Stewart of Indianapolis, and a “bonus daughter” (aka niece) Jennifer Stewart-Johnson Bundren (Bill) of Zionsville; brothers Jerry (Debbie) Stewart of Frankfort; and two sisters Faye O’Neal of Galatin, TN and Brenda Stowers of Frankfort. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Stephanie and Zachary Workman, Jacob and Lynnzie Johnson, and Chase and Izabella Bundren as well as a “grand puppy” Evie Mae.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers; Sterling (Stew), Billy, and Delano (Deter).
Private family services will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at 1 pm at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort with live streaming of the funeral service beginning at 1 pm. Pastor Ken Rushing will officiate. Friends are invited to join the family at 2:30pm for the graveside service in Oak Hill Cemetery in Kirklin. Memorials in Jim’s name may be made to the Autism Society of America (www.autisim-society.org), the National Kidney Foundation (nkfi@kidney.indiana.org) or the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org).
