Jane V. Roberts Yost, 89, formerly of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at Mulberry Health.
She was born February 14, 1927, in Clinton County, to Robert Edward Roberts Sr. and Clara Elizabeth Dieter Roberts. Jane was formerly married to Robert W. Yost.
Jane graduated from Dayton High School in 1945. She was the owner and operator of Janeâs Flower Shop. Jane had also worked at Jo-Ann Fabrics and Marsh Food Stores in the floral department before working at Wal-Mart. Jane was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Hope Chapter of Eastern Star, Lafayette Business and Professional Womenâs Club, and Dayton Motherâs Club. Jane loved to work with flowers and enjoyed sewing especially her childrenâs clothes including her daughterâs wedding dress.
Surviving Jane are her four children, Jerry (Betty) Yost, of Kokomo, Nancy Summers and Shirley (Mike) Babb, both of Lafayette, and Mary Ann (Dan) Kerkhoff, of West Lafayette; brothers, Dick (Marilyn) Roberts, of Lafayette, and Jack (Jeanie) Roberts, of Mulberry; sisters, Norma Aiken, of Lafayette, JoAnn (Raymond) Hammel, of Mulberry, and Janet (Jim) Inskeep, of Romney; sister-in-law, Kay Roberts, of Mulberry; eight grandchildren, David (Sandy) Brettnacher, Dennis (Gina) Brettnacher, Dennise Jordan, Brad Yost, Karen Yost, Shea (Ben) Vessa, Sharon (Adam) Wright, and Joshua (Jenn) Kerkhoff; 14 great-grandchildren, and two great, great-grandchildren.
Jane is preceded in death by her parents, twin sister, Jean Massingill; and brothers, Larry, Bob, and Donnie Max Roberts.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 26, 2016, at Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel from 4:00 â 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. TJ Jenney officiating. Burial will follow in Fair Haven Cemetery in Mulberry. Memorials in Janeâs name may be made to the charity of the donorâs choice.
