Janet S. Dupler, 82, formerly of Frankfort, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018, in Carmel surrounded by family. She was born August 14, 1936, in Frankfort, to Virginia (Christy) Power and Kenneth S. Power.
Janet married Jan D. “Pete” Dupler on February 12, 1955. Pete preceded her in death on March 2, 2006. Surviving Janet are her son, Harley H. Dupler III, of Lafayette; daughter, Michelle R. “Micke” Ridenour, of Carmel; sister, Elizabeth Joan Ferguson, of Frankfort; and her most beloved baby sister, Jacqueline J. Rose, of Franklinville, NY. Janet has one adored grandson, Brendan Ross Ridenour.
In 1954, Janet graduated from Frankfort Senior High School. After moving to Ohio in 1965, she attended nurse’s training and earned her LPN, fulfilling a lifelong dream. In 1970, the family moved back to Frankfort where Janet worked second shift at Clinton County Hospital in the emergency room; it was the most fulfilling time of her life. In 1980, she and Pete enjoyed semi-retirement in Florida, with Janet working part time for a medevac/air ambulance where she felt fulfilled helping people in desperate need.
Janet was thrilled upon returning to Frankfort that the same little house on Catterlin Street, in which they had lived when their children were young, was for sale. Buying it on spot she lived there until her move two years ago to the loving community of Green House Cottages of Carmel where she was able to keep her loyal dog companion, Ben.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 1:00 p.m. to the start of the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Phil Lake will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
In lieu of flowers, it would warm Janet’s heart if memorials in her name were made to Paw Pals of Clinton County, online at www.PawPalsOfClintonCounty.org or P.O. Box 124, Frankfort, IN 46041. Paw Pals cared for Janet’s adopted dog, Ben, until he found his home with her. Ben still lives in Carmel where he enjoys daily walks, trips to festivals, parks, creeks, trails, and more.
