Janet I. Douglas, 73, Sedalia, died at 9:27 a.m. June 19, 2011 at IU
Health Hospital in Lafayette
Mrs. Douglas was born on Feb. 6, 1938 in Frankfort to John and Mary
(Layton) Hill. She married Charles Douglas on May 15, 1959 at Hope United
Methodist Church in Frankfort and he survives.
Mrs. Douglas previously worked PR Malloryâs in Frankfort before her
marriage. She then went to work at the Fertilizer Plant for George
McDaniel. She also worked at Milnerâs and CVS in Rossville before retiring
in 2000. The lifelong Clinton County Resident was a member of Rossville United
Methodist Church, where she participated in Links of Love. She graduated
from Frankfort High School in 1957 and enjoyed gardening, knitting,
crocheting and cross stitching.
Surviving with her husband of Sedalia is one son, Mark (wife Amanda)
Douglas of Rossville; two daughters, Marcia (husband Ned) Smith of
Michigantown and Marna (husband J.B.) Huffer of Frankfort; two sisters,
Helen Hemmerling of Frankfort and Patricia (husband William) Stoops of
Chillicothe, Ill.; one step-sister, Freida Cosby of Crawsfordville; three
brothers, Harold (wife Roberta) Hill of Fishers, Larry Hill of Avon nd
David (wife Kathy) Hill of Rossville; seven grandchildren, Alyssa, Brant
and Courtney Smith, Jared and Mallory Huffer, Madison and Ashlynn Douglas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one step-brother, Howard Hill.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Bodine Funeral
Home in Rossville. Rev. Rick Jones will officiate the services. Calling
will occur from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at the funeral home.
Burial will occur in Green Lawn Cemetery.
