Janet Ruth Mohler, 90, of Mulberry, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Creasy Springs in Lafayette.
She was born June 9, 1923, in Peru, the daughter of Carl F. and Dot L. Zink Ehlers. On October 20, 1946, she married Clarence E. Mohler in Frankfort; he preceded her in death on January 6, 2012.
Janet graduated from Peru High School. She worked at Woolworth as a clerk and later at Indiana Bell Telephone Co. After 22 years, Janet retired in 1990 from Purdue University where she was an administrator in the Ag Econ Department. She was a tutor for Laubach Literacy Action for Clinton County Adult Literacy, volunteer in the State Parks Programs in Missouri and Michigan, and charter member of the Senior Scholars Forum at Ivy Tech State College in Lafayette.
Janet is survived by four daughters, Judith Mohler Atkinson of Colfax; Rebecca Mohler Adams of Lafayette, Suzanne Mohler of Lafayette, and Diane Mohler of Mulberry; one sister, Dorothy Dubanowich of South Carolina; 12 grandchildren including Heather Anthrop, Lee Anthrop, Michael Atkinson, Sharon Mast, Craig Morgan, Cheryl Yeager, Christi Garriott, James Burke, Joe Burke, and Nicole Burke, and 23 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Janet is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Marilyn Knox; and two brothers, Charles Ehlers and Richard Ehlers.
Visitation for Janet will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
