Jan Bowyer, 69, of Mulberry, IN went to meet the Lord at approximately 8:40 pm on April 17, 2012 at the Mulberry Health & Retirement Community having suffered a major brain aneurism on Oct 14, 2011.
Jan was born in Danville, IL on Jul 01, 1942 to Milford and Rachael (Beckley) Wilborn. Jan was a 1961 graduate of Perrysville H. S. in Perrysville, IN. She was introduced to her future spouse by her best friend Donna (Buckles) Bowyer. On Nov 27, 1965, (46 ½ yrs. ago) she married James âJoeâ Bowyer in Lafayette, IN. The ceremony was almost delayed due to the Lafayette Christmas Parade and the wedding attendees had to be careful where they stepped since the church was in the middle of the horseâs staging area. After the reception, she received a ride around the Lafayette court house square in a wheelbarrow and went to the K-mart Grand opening for a picture with Santa. She loved good clean fun and was always pleasant and fun to be around. Her list of least favored activities involved alcohol, tobacco and fishing.
Jan moved to the rural Mulberry in 1969 soon after her first daughter was born and has lived in the same house since then raising all 3 daughters there. Being just inside the Rossville School District, most of her involvement was with the Rossville or Lafayette areas.
Jan was a stay at home housewife for most of her married life and had many crafting interests. She was known for cake decorating, candy making, cross stitching and other crafting interests. Most of the things she made were given to other people as gifts of love. She was very caring and giving for family and friends. She was quite involved with the Rossville United Methodist Churchâs Ladies group âLinks of Loveâ. Other interests were family, camping and gardening.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her younger brother, Bill Wilborn formerly of the Danville, IL area. Surviving with her spouse are the three daughters, Kathy (Matt) Peck of Crawfordsville, Karol Bowyer of Lafayette, and Karie (Matt) Bailey of Darlington, IN, --three Grandsons - David (Beth) Peck , Raze & Tait Bailey and one great Grand-daughter â Ellie Peck.
Also surviving are a brother Jerry Marxmiller of Perrysville, IN and a sister Francis LeConte of Plainfield, IN plus several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Bodine Funeral Home in Rossville, IN on Saturday Apr 21, 2012 at 10:30 am. with R.A. Bowyer and Rick Jones officiating. The calling will be from 4 to 8 pm on Friday night Apr 20, 2012 at Bodineâs. Burial will take place at Fairhaven Cemetery north of Mulberry, IN.
