J.D. Cottrell

J.D. Cottrell, 69, of Frankfort, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at his home.

J.D. was born on July 16, 1946, in Rose Hill, Virginia, to James and Mary (Eldridge) Cottrell. On July 7, 1966, he married Kathy Rude, who survives.

Since 1973, J.D. had owned and operated J.D.’s Garage in Frankfort. He enjoyed playing the bass guitar and listening to bluegrass music. J.D.’s proudest accomplishment was obtaining his private pilot’s license which he held for over 20 years. He had served his country with the Indiana National Guard for seven years and had been a member of the Souls Harbor Missionary Baptist Church in Frankfort.

In addition to his wife, survivors include daughter, Sandra Moudy of Kingston, TN; sister, Maude Wolfe of Frankfort; brother, Bobby Cottrell of TN; four granddaughters; and one great grandson.

J.D. was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dennis J. Cottrell; three sisters; and six brothers.
