Jerry Cory, 78, of Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday morning, February 16, 2016, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.
He was born March 16, 1937, in Clinton County, to Floyd Cory and Bernice Whitaker Cory. On September 20, 1958, he married Sarah May McCoy Cory, who survives.
Jerry graduated from Jackson Township High School in 1955, and was a well-known basketball player for the school and the county. He worked for over 47½ years at ADM Soy Bean Mill and was a proud member and Past President of the BCTGM Union Local 104-G. Jerry also was a real estate agent. He and his wife Sarah owned and operated Cory Southern Realty for many years in Frankfort. Jerry was an avid Purdue Basketball fan and truly loved to watch spectator sports of all kinds. He enjoyed working in his yard and loved to travel as often as possible with his wife. He never knew a stranger and often enjoyed going to McDonalds to drink coffee and catch up on the happenings in the community. He truly loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Cullom (James) of Mulberry; three grandchildren, Andrew Cullom, Wesley Cullom (Jennifer Nice) and Hatlyn Miller (Chris); two great grandchildren, Emma Jo Cullom and Eli Nice; three brothers, Floyd Cory of Mechanicsburg, Ted Cory (Erma) of Lebanon and Bill Cory (Pat) of Mechanicsburg; and one sister, Sandra Ryan of Lebanon; and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ed Cory.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 19, 2016, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, with Pastor Dave Klipp and Paul Whitaker officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016, at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., and also one hour prior to the service on Friday. Private inurnment will be held.
