Jerry Lee Garrison

Jerry Lee Garrison, 77, of West Lafayette, went to be with our Lord at 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.

Jerry was born February 3, 1937, in Flora, the son of Don Ayres and Kathryn Jeanette Landis Garrison.  On January 29, 1958, he married Sonia Ann Cook.

In 1955, he graduated from Flora High School and then attended Indiana University in Bloomington.  Throughout his life, Jerry lived in Flora, Ind.; Syracuse, Ind.; Park City, Utah; and West Lafayette, Ind.

Jerry worked for his family business, D.A. Garrison Grain Company, in Delphi.  He then moved to Syracuse to be part owner of Lincoln Way International in Warsaw, Fort Wayne, and South Bend.  His business opportunities then led him to Park City to manage Lake City Trucking in Salt Lake City.  He returned to West Lafayette, to retire and be close to his family which was the center of his life.

Jerry was a Christian and his faith was the foundation of his life.  He led many of the youth in Flora in their beginning walk with Christ.  He loved his family and felt so blessed by their love and time together.  He loved sharing his wisdom and life experience and took pleasure in seeing his family embrace all of his teaching through his example.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by his three daughters, Stephanie Ann (Trent) Stephan of Flora, Kandace Lyn (Greg) Eller of Lafayette, and Shelby Kay (Tim) Crum of Cookeville, TN; ten grandchildren, Lauren Courtney (Brent) Hornett, Steffan Garrison Eller, Nolan Ashton Eller, Madalyn Grace (Oscar) Trujillo, Greyson Landis Eller, Gillian Meredith Eller, Ethan Garrison Crum, Noah Ayres Crum, Seth Brycen Crum, and Zackery Conner Crum; one brother, Teddy Joe (Jackie) Garrison; sister-in-law, Sandra Vee (Gordon) McCain; ten nieces and nephews, and many loving family members and friends.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Karen Lynne Garrison Carter (Dan) Vierk; and sister-in-law, Sharon Sue (Gary) McClure.

Calling hours will be held at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora, on Friday, December 12, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. to the start of the memorial service at 1:00 p.m.  Pastor Deke Jones will officiate.  Inurnment will follow in Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jerry’s name may be made to Young Life Ministries at giving.younglife.org or the American Diabetes Association.  Online condolences maybe directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
