Jerry Lee Vohar, 64, passed away Monday, May 6, 2024, at Franciscan Health Hospital in Lafayette. He was born November 15, 1959, in Salina, Kansas. He married LaDonna Sue Ellis. They later divorced, but have remained great friends. He then committed to Coral Eve Smith. They both survive.
Jerry was a graduate of Berea High School in Cleveland, OH, and then went on to welding school. He worked various jobs in his teen years, then as an engineer for 36 years at WLFI TV and then Hailey’s Lock Shop and the United States Postal Service. Jerry loved the outdoors, and especially enjoyed fishing, camping, and sitting around the bonfire. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Guardians (Indians), Ohio State Buckeyes and The Notre Dame Fighting Irish. His heart was filled when he was around friends and family and enjoyed being the life of the party, sharing stories, and making memories. He took pride in being the “last man standing.”
Along with LaDonna and Coral, Jerry is survived by his mother and stepfather, Janet (Ray) Haymond Fulop of Cleveland; his sons, Westley Vohar of Colburn and Colton Vohar of Lafayette; a daughter, Justine Natola of Cleveland; sisters, Kathy (John) Wicktora of Cleveland and Cheri Howard of Cleveland; "brother", Vernon Zeiger of Cleveland; step-siblings, Misty (David) Pickford of California, Rob (Beth) Fulop of Cleveland; and Debra Fulop of Boston; an “adopted” son, Jerren Dale; several “adopted” grandchildren; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, John and Louise Vohar; and a stepsister, Sharon Fulop-Harley.
Memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2024, from 4-7pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Mulberry Chapel. Friends and family are invited to gather at 9 Irish Brothers, State Road 38, Lafayette, on May 16, 2024, from 6-9pm. Attendees may purchase refreshments and fare from their menu.
