Jerry W. Kirkman, 70, of Frankfort, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born July 28, 1945, in Frankfort, to Elmer and Mildred Lykken Kirkman; his mother survives in Frankfort.
Jerry graduated from Frankfort Senior High School in 1963. He then graduated from DeVry University. He lived in California for 25 years before returning to Frankfort in his retirement. Jerry worked for the ATF with the US Government for 30 years before retiring in 2001. He received the Albert Gallatin Award for service to the Department of the US Treasury. He was also a fire arm safety instructor. Jerry enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling especially on trains. He was a member of Frankfort Baptist Temple.
In addition to his mother, Jerry is survived by five nephews, Jake Kirkman of Oregon, Travis Kirkman, Nick Kirkman, Caleb Kirkman and Issac Kirkman, all of Frankfort; and his aunt, Lois (Estel) Rex of Mulberry.
Jerry is preceded in death by his father, one brother, Dennis Kirkman, and one sister, Karen Harris.
Visitation for Jerry will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 10:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Terry Flynn will officiate. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort. Memorials in Jerryâs name may be made to PBS, Frankfort Salvation Army, or Frankfort Baptist Temple.
