Jim Fritz, 90, of Frankfort, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community.
He was born on September 28, 1924, in Economy, to Kenneth and Ruby Howell Fritz. On November 16, 1947, he married Marjorie Ellis in Hagerstown; she preceded him in death on August 20, 2008.
Jim served as a Sergeant in the United States Army 36th Combat Engineers during World War II. Jim graduated from Modoc High School in 1942, and then attended Anderson University before completing his education at Christian Theological Seminary. Throughout his life, Jim served as a Methodist minister in Markleville, Hobbs, Pioneer Parish in DeKalb County, Galveston, Ft. Wayne, Epworth, Osceola, Albany, Morocco, Windfall, and Tipton Presbyterian. He was a member of the North Indiana Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Surviving are one son, Kenny (Gail) Fritz of Kempton; one daughter, Nola (Jerry) Clawson of Delphi; three grandchildren, Heather (Bryan) Hefley, Kent (Stephanie) Fritz, and Shannon (John) Mazurek; eight great grandchildren, Shannon, Nathan, Zoe, Zane, Ezra, Ryan, Tyler, and Jagger; and two great-great grandchildren, Alexis and Belanna.
In addition to his wife, Jim is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Cecil Fritz; and one sister, Inez Clementi.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at Amanda Reid Memorial Chapel at Wesley Manor from 9:30 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Chaplain Barbara Kinsler will officiate. Burial will follow in Tipton Fairview Cemetery with military graveside honors. Memorials in Jimâs name may be made to Clinton County Humane Society.
