Joan Walters, 78, of Noblesville, formerly of Flora, died at 8:15 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2012, at Millerâs Senior Living Community.
She was born Aug. 4, 1933, in Flora, the daughter of James and Ruth Harshbarger. On June 4, 1955, she married Charles âFrankâ Walters, who preceded her in death on July 11, 1982.
A homemaker, Joan formerly owned and operated Walterâs Café in Camden. She loved cooking, Purdue basketball, and fundraising for the CDC (Comprehensive Developmental Center).
Surviving are three daughters, Janice, Jean and Judy Walters; a brother, Max Harshbarger; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Dick and Annie Walters, Doris and Gary Lake, Max and Mary Lou Rude, Jerry Walters, Robert Walters, and Ron and Judy Walters; and her dogs that she called her grandbabies, Stormy, Mandy and Mattie.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Donald Harshbarger; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Gladys Walters.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Genda Funeral Home, Reinke Chapel, Flora. Burial will follow at Rockfield IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
