Joanne Dellinger, 88, of Mulberry, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus in West Lafayette.
She was born June 28, 1929, in Mulberry, to Madison Chester and Sadie Florence (Combs) Peters. On June 26, 1949, she married Melvin âJrâ Dellinger; he preceded her in death on April 17, 2015.
Joanne graduated from Mulberry High School in 1947. She had worked as an account clerk at Farmerâs Mutual and Meridian Insurance for 30 years and then at Purdue University in the Alumni Foundation area for six years before retiring. She was a life-long member of Mulberry United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and had served as financial secretary for 13 years, trustee for ten years, and secretary of the Sunday school class for ten years. Joanne also sang with the Tippecanoe Home Extension Chorus. She was also a member of the USS Shangri-la Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star for 15 years, and the Elks Ladies Auxiliary.
Surviving Joanne are her son, Jeffrey L. Dellinger, of Mulberry; granddaughter, Ashley (Michael) Skarda of Duluth, GA; grandson, Chris Rogers; brother, John E. (Eleanor Jo) Peters, of Warrensburg, IL.; and sister, Susan (Lee Roy) McIntosh, of Frankfort.
Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by sisters, Mary Bennett and Jeanne Army.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Genda Funeral Home-Mulberry Chapel, from 12:00 â 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Harley Helm will officiate.
